Built in 1908, The Machaven was originally owned by James William Hines and Mary Matilda MacEntyre Hines and remained in their family for four generations. The house was sold in the late 1980s and became The City Club. At that time, it regularly hosted dinner parties and other events. The Machaven has since changed ownership but continues to provide an intimate venue for luncheons, dinner parties, weddings and other special occasions.
Between the quaint offerings of downtown Rocky Mount and the quiet elegance of the early 20th century home, couples will find The Machaven a peaceful, yet remarkable setting for their wedding nuptials.
