The Machaven – the Best Intimate Wedding Venue in Rocky Mount

Are you looking for an intimate event space in Eastern NC? The Machaven is a charming Colonial Revival home in downtown Rocky Mount. It is characterized by its stately white columns and surrounded by an expansive lawn – perfect for couples looking to add a touch of local character to their wedding.

The Machaven offers indoor and outdoor spaces for private events. Host a floating cocktail event for up to 50 guests in the three interior parlor rooms. When all rooms in the house are used, the space can host up to 100 for a seated meal. Meanwhile, utilize the two getting ready spaces to prep for your day. Additionally, its spacious grounds are perfect for tented or open-air events.  For outside ceremonies, the lawn provides space for a large number of guests.

Amenities and Wedding Planning at The Machaven

For weddings of more than 50 people, The Machaven requires hiring a professional day-of planner. For optimal convenience, coordination services from Your Day by Meredith are offered through The Machaven. Lead Planner Meredith Davis will make your process seamless.

The historic home has a prep kitchen, prep space, refrigeration and an ice machine. Clients may bring in a caterer of their choosing.

However, The Machaven does provide a full bar and its own bartending staff. Bar managers Kristi Ellis and Travis Ellis and their staff bring years of experience and love to create custom packages.

The Story of Historic Eastern NC Venue

Built in 1908, The Machaven was originally owned by James William Hines and Mary Matilda MacEntyre Hines and remained in their family for four generations. The house was sold in the late 1980s and became The City Club, which hosted both dinner parties and other events. The Machaven has since changed ownership but continues to provide an intimate venue for luncheons, dinner parties, weddings and other special occasions.

Between the quaint offerings of downtown Rocky Mount and the quiet elegance of the early 20th century home, couples will find The Machaven a peaceful, yet remarkable setting for their wedding nuptials.
