This month’s featured photographer is new to the SB&G family and we couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce the talented Bronwyn Duffield Photography on the blog today! Bronwyn has a fine art wedding photography studio based in Chapel Hill, NC.
Bronwyn’s father is the one who inspired her – with his camera constantly by his side – to take interest in photography. “I would often look through the viewfinder and marvel at how such a tiny image could manifest itself into a beautiful photograph,” she shares. She nagged her parents endlessly before they proposed either “piano” or “photography,” and to her mother’s dismay, she chose the camera and has no regrets! It’s a life-long passion she’s been able to tap back into after several years pursing her Masters in biomedical engineering from UNC, then working for a short time as a software engineer. Soon after, she began her business as a wedding photographer! Although she never took photography courses, she was mentored by some of the leading digital and film wedding photographers in the industry.
“Every image I capture now is a story that has a different meaning and interpretation to everyone who sees it. To me, that is the magic of photography – the mosaic it creates for each individual,” she says.
Bronwyn’s style is a mix between modern photojournalism and traditional portraiture. Her team includes hybrid photographers, incorporating both film and digital photography. One of the most important aspects of her style of photography is being able to capture feelings and emotion, whether that’s love, laughter, excitement or just downright having fun! She wants brides to be able to look back on their photographs and remember exactly what they were thinking and feeling in that moment.
Bronwyn also likes to use light in her images, helping couples plan their day so they have the best possible scenarios for gorgeous photos to be taken using natural light. Take a look at some examples in the gorgeous selection of her work below.
