Laura & Mo’s Raleigh Wedding at Melrose Knitting Mill – a Union of Cultures
You might know of Melrose Knitting Mill if you have been to the Raleigh Food and Wine Festival. This urban warehouse venue in downtown Raleigh is upstairs of the former Babylon restaurant, which has recently transitioned to Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar. Today we are sharing a beautiful cross cultural wedding at Melrose Knitting Mill.
With a mixture of peaches and navy as their wedding color palette, this stunning cross cultural Raleigh wedding was absolutely breathtaking in its personal touches. Every detail of Laura and Mo’s special day was planned to incorporate the celebration of their uniting cultures. From their beautiful outdoor ceremony on the gorgeous signature outdoor fountain that is in the courtyard of Mulino, to their romantic indoor reception at Melrose Knitting Mill, this wedding was definitely one for the ages!

A little background on our Melrose Knitting Mill couple – Laura and Mo met online five years ago. After a week of exchanging emails they met up and have been together ever since that day. Mo planned a special romantic getaway to the Florida Keys for Laura and himself to warm up from the cold February. Mo surprised her by having someone take their photo by the palm trees near the water and then got down on one knee!
The wedding was a cross cultural celebration for Laura, Mo and their families. They used their rehearsal dinner at Renaissance Raleigh North Hills to highlight Mo’s Indian heritage with a Mehndi party. The dinner, Indian dancing and henna artist were all incorporated to celebrate!
Cross Cultural Wedding Celebration at Melrose Knitting Mill Raleigh

Laura wore a strapless Stella York lace gown that was stunningly classic and paired the look with a beautiful veil. The pairing of this classic gown and veil and traditional henna art from the Indian culture was the perfect look for this couple’s special day. The beautiful exposed brick of Mulino Italian Kitchen and Melrose Knitting Mill made a perfect urban backdrop for this cross-cultural wedding.

The bridal bouquet was a beautiful waterfall of peach and creme blooms and greenery. To represent the bride’s family and her Christian faith, she had her late grandmother’s Bible crafted into her cascading bridal bouquet. Laura shared, “It was very special to have something so meaningful incorporated into my day.”

Laura and Mo’s venue choice of Babylon, now Mulino Italian Kitchen for their ceremony, and Melrose Knitting Mill for their reception was the perfect fit for them as a couple. Laura said that the venue provided the “perfect place for an intercultural and interfaith wedding.” This warehouse atmosphere provided a setting and atmosphere that perfectly fit the couple.

To go along with their colors of peach and navy, the bridesmaids worse mismatched short navy dresses and the groomsmen wore matching navy ties with their grey suits. The bride’s favorite way of incorporating the color scheme was in Mo’s navy tie with bulldogs that represented one of their furbabies!

Wedding Reception at Melrose Knitting Mill
The couple moved upstairs to the Melrose Knitting Mill for their stunning wedding reception celebration. Elegant chandeliers hung from the ceiling, navy linens adorned tables, and delicious catering from Babylon was served to their guests.

The couple had a Dohl drum player, Jeetu Singh, who helped them incorporate Indian culture into their wedding day. “Everyone was up on their feet dancing to the music and having a great time,” shared Laura.
