Sarah and Chris started wedding planning almost immediately after moving down to North Carolina from NYC. They knew they wanted a laid back affair that brought in a little bit of Brooklyn to their new home of NC. The moment they saw The Cookery in Durham, they knew it was the perfect vibe they were looking for. The couple paired the warehouse venue with a neutral color palette and brought their dream wedding to life with this Durham wedding with Brooklyn Flare at The Cookery.

Sarah & Chris’s Love Story

Sarah and Chris met each other while both living in New York City. They quickly bonded over living in the city, their love of dogs and whiskey being their spirit of choice. On their first date Chris took Sarah to a tavern for whiskey cocktails, followed by a walk under the Brooklyn bridge – where they shared their first kiss.

The week before they were set to move to North Carolina, Chris once again took Sarah to the same tavern to reminisce about their first date. After dinner they walked under the bridge once more, this time having to avoid some construction, and when they reached the spot of their first kiss, Chris asked Sarah to be his wife! She could barely say “yes” through all the tears!

The Cookery is a local culinary incubator and beautiful warehouse event venue in the heart of Durham, NC. The venue has multiple different rooms with their new expansion to accommodate weddings of all sizes and with their new cobblestone garden area, your celebration can now take place in a beautiful outdoor area – which is what Sarah and Chris did for their ceremony!

Sarah chose a classic strapless Mori Lee Gown from Durham bridal boutique, Savvi Formalwear & Bridal. With the stunning white bridal bouquet by English Garden, a Raleigh wedding florist, Sarah could not have looked more classically beautiful! Her bridesmaids chose their own dress styles in a neutral blush color scheme to complement the wedding’s vibe. Take note brides – this girl has great taste!

The groom wore a sharp blue suit with a fun patterned shirt and matching pocket square. While his groomsman wore suit vests to round out the attire. I mean come on, how dapper do they look!

Raleigh wedding florist, The English Garden created beautiful greenery inspired bouquets for each of the bridesmaids and a bridal bouquet of white blooms for Sarah. The florals perfectly played into the neutral theme that the couple had envisioned for their wedding day celebrations.

Warm NC Wedding Reception at The Cookery

Sarah and John stayed on site at The Cookery for their wedding reception in their main room. Their catering was by Durham Catering Co. and the couple couldn’t be happier with their choice in food. Sarah shared, “The food was delicious – people still comment on it!”

With beautiful greenery table runners by The English Gardenr, candles, and neutral colors, the entire room and celebration felt warm and welcoming.
