Wedding Day Looks Styled by Local NC Wedding Vendors
The bride wore a beautiful sleek Amy Kuschel gown from Lana Addison Bridal, an amazing bridal shop in Cary, NC. Her bridesmaids wore long blush gowns. They polished their looks with hair by Parlor Blow Dry Bar and makeup by Raleigh wedding makeup artist, Makeup for Your Day.
The groomsmen dressed in trendy blue chambray suits – a hot trend for groom’s fashion. The suits were dressed down with converse sneakers (Chad wore golf sneakers) and patterned ties that they were gifted. We love when couples choose out of the box fashion styles to show off their personalities on their wedding day!
These offbeat fashion looks paired perfectly with the Bull City affair – from the casual setting of the Durham Bulls ceremony, to the industrial vibe offered at The Rickhouse wedding reception.
Wedding Ceremony at the Historic Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Downtown Durham
The Historic Durham Athletic Park was the home of the Durham Bulls for nearly 70 years and was also the film location for the movie Bull Durham. Steph and Chad couldn’t think of a better location to have their downtown Durham wedding than this historic venue. The Rickhouse wedding venue being adjacent to the baseball field made it the perfect location to host their Durham wedding reception. The Rickhouse even has a patio overlooking the Durham Bulls field, so it was an easy commute and kept the wedding flow feeling thoughtfully knit together.
“Getting married on the Historic Durham Athletic Park field was a dream come true! The juxtaposition of the baseball field with the floral arrangements, seating and decor truly made it unique and represented us as a couple,” shared Steph.
The wedding planner, Gather Together, even surprised the couple by having the couple’s initials “S + C” drawn inside a heart on the Durham Bulls pitcher’s mound. This created a special backdrop behind the altar.
Downtown Durham Wedding Photography by Katherine Miles Jones
It’s always memorable to have your wedding portraits show off your wedding location – so when you look back in 10 years you can remember the day as well as the environment around your nuptials instead of just a plain nondescript backdrop. Katherine Miles Jones Photography, a Durham and Chapel Hill wedding photographer, is an expert at capturing the special moments between a couple as well as the scenery around them – as evident in Steph and Chad’s Durham Bull ceremony and Rickhouse wedding reception.
“Katherine Miles Jones was a joy to work with. Her calm and friendly demeanor throughout the day helped keep us calm, and we will treasure her photos forever,” said Steph.
Stunning Summertime Decor and Florals at Rickhouse Wedding Reception
The Rickhouse wedding reception decor was kept in neutral shades in order to accentuate the pops of color in the florals by Durham wedding florist and flower farm, Bluebird Meadows. The flowers were accented with vivid colors, which were also reflected in the reception menus and place cards.
Chad, being the co-owner of American Party Rentals, of course had the best of the best reception rentals for his guests to enjoy. American Party Rentals helped make the venue look extra stunning with brand new natural diamond-back chairs and colored glassware. Paired with the geometric accents of Get Lit Special Event Lighting, the Rickhouse wedding reception in this Durham wedding venue was a sight to be seen!
Steph said,“The Rickhouse provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of love, memories, and lots of dancing!”
Fun and Unique Additions to Rickhouse Wedding Reception
The couple, if you had not already been able to tell, are a unique and fun couple! They wanted to make sure their guests had a fun time and boy did they do just that. With late night baseball park themed bites, a specialty chalk design that paid homage to their alma mater of UNC-Chapel Hill, ZimZoom Photo Booth and a grand exit with foam fingers – this wedding definitely makes it in the hall of fame!
