“If The Shoe Fits, Wear It” – A Modern-day Cinderella Story
Mike & Brittany fell in love over Christmas cookies, Christopher Walken impersonations, and endless laughter. Like mother, like daughter – Brittany preferred fresh Nike shoes to an engagement ring. So it was with surprise and complete joy that Brittany said “yes” to Mike’s Nike shoe-diamond ring proposal!
Unforgettable NC Mountain Wedding Ceremony
Mike & Brittany said “I Do” before friends, family, and a horizon full of smokey blue mountains. With Brittany’s mother as the wedding officiant, not a single dry eye was left at the ceremony.
Mike & Brittany incorporated whimsical details of nature into their NC mountain wedding. Dreamy watercolor etches of the Blue Ridge Mountains embellished invitations. Along with the invitations were cute DIY painted signs welcoming guests to the Overlook Barn ceremony and reception. The happy couple’s parents helped out by creating a rustic arbor to say their vows underneath and homemade blankets for the guests to use in the crisp nighttime mountain air. The calm June mountain weather, breathtaking views, and rustic venue set the tone for a magical wedding day in Banner Elk, NC.
Boho Fashion Fits This NC Mountain Wedding
Brittany wore a Anna Campbell boho bridal gown with soft straps and dazzling gypsy jewels across the bodice. Her bridal look was polished off with simply beautiful bridal shoes, and natural DIY hair and makeup. Her tribe wore mix and match Show Me Your Mumu bridesmaids dresses in matching sea foam green color for the fall NC mountain wedding.
The groomsmen wore their own navy suits with fun mismatched colored floral ties. As groomsmen gifts, the guys received Appalachian Mountain Brewery mugs, NC brewed beer, and locally made beef jerky.
NC Mountain Wedding Reception at Overlook Barn in Banner Elk
The Overlook Barn’s high ceilings were adorned in romantic string lights and greenery. Floral arrangements contained wildflower mountain mixtures of sunflowers, magenta peonies, white rose buds, and more. Instead of the typical glass centerpiece vases, Mike & Brittany placed their romantic flower bouquets in beer growlers from local NC breweries. Every table was covered with wild mountain flowers arranged by Log House Floral in Boone, NC. Other small touches such as local beer, a build your own s’mores bar, and moonshine shots gave this wedding a cozy mountain vibe. An ice cream sandwich truck from Asheville, NC was the icing on top of this NC mountain wedding.
Brittany raved about her experience with the Overlook Barn.
“I cannot say enough great things about Overlook Barn! For starters, the location is amazing, with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains! The Overlook Barn’s team was fantastic to work with; they were professional, provided a list of recommended vendors, and seemed just as excited for our wedding as we were!”
