As a 22 year old graduate from Johnson & Wales University with a Culinary Arts degree, Jill Santa-Lucia wasn’t having any luck finding a job in a male-dominated industry. So she “hired herself,” as CEO and owner of Catering Works. Thirty years after the fact, Catering Works has consistently grown their stellar reputation as a versatile catering company that does it all.
Chef Santa-Lucia and Executive Chef Rich Carter have both racked up an impressive roster of local and national awards (including a prize 1969 Stingray Corvette, but that’s a whole ‘nother story). With Jill’s sister and VP, Lorin Laxton, this top-notch team oversees a multifaceted Raleigh event and catering company. Their latest two endeavors include a global dining series called Culinary Adventures that takes place at their own industrial venue, The Laurelbrook. Another popular venture is their Personal Chef Meals to private home delivery. As longtime members of the community, they are active supporters of Interfaith Food Shuttle, NC Food Bank and a long list of charitable organizations. Catering Works has also been active in the green catering movement.
