Crystal and Terrell’s Wedding Dreams Came True

Crystal Henderson and Terrell Garrett embody the notion that sometimes, beautiful things take time to unfold. The two met in Washington D.C. in 2011 through a mutual friend, but didn’t start dating until nearly six years later. For their fourth anniversary, Terrell surprised Crystal with a trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, where he got down on one knee in a beautiful salt cave.

Choosing The Perfect North Carolina Wedding Venue and Planner
The couple began planning with a venue search in Crystal’s home state of North Carolina. “We wanted a venue to accommodate our ceremony and reception and have a designated area for both of us to get ready,” Crystal says. “Terrell actually found The Bradford [in New Hill, North Carolina,] and I immediately fell in love with the venue. It was a perfect fit for our style.” The couple subsequently matched with C&D Events Event Planner and Designer Alexia Williams.
“Crystal and Terrell wanted to be extremely hands-on,” Alexia says. “I assisted them along the way with all of the logistics such as floor plan creation, timelines, ceremony direction and vendor management.”

Supporting Black- and Women-Owned Wedding Vendors
“Wedding planning was truly a group project for us and a stepping stone to marriage,” Crystal says. “We wanted to choose as many Black- or women-owned vendors as possible.”
The special day took place Sept. 4, 2022, following a rehearsal dinner at The Mayton in Cary. Crystal’s grandfather Bishop James C. Hash Sr. officiated, adding to the exceptionally personal feel of the day. “We wanted our guests to enjoy themselves and feel the love at our wedding,” Crystal says. The couple shared a family-style meal with their loved ones and posed for pictures with ZimZoom Photo Booth.
