Whimsical Reception Design Mixing Patterns and Bright Florals
Cameron and Jeremy met online in 2020 right before the pandemic shut down North Carolina. Four years later, the pair tied the knot at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilson, North Carolina – Jeremy’s hometown – in a day filled with love and music.

“One of the most profound elements of our ceremony was the officiation by John McKinnon, the son of the long-time minister of the church. John traveled all the way from Oklahoma City to officiate our wedding, marking a historic moment as the first same-sex marriage to take place at the church,” the couple says. “This decision was a significant step in acknowledging and celebrating the diversity of all of God’s children within First Presbyterian.”

Vibrant, Whimsical Design at The Distillery
Jeremy and Cameron hosted their friends and family for a reception at The Distillery in Garner, NC. A blend of bright, eye-catching floral displays with whimsical touches and mixed patterns created a vibrant design inside the modern-industrial venue.
“Our wedding was a stunning display of elegance and whimsy, with a color palette of vibrant whites and rich blacks adorning all floral arrangements, dresses and designs,” the couple says. “Adding a touch of charm, we incorporated the iconic MacKenzie Child’s theme with the black and white royal check pattern, weaving a thread of sophistication throughout our decor.”

Funky Fresh Catering provided delicious bites and a stunning charcuterie display that weaved throughout the reception design.
“Funky Fresh was not only wonderful, but also a delicious journey filled with laughter, creativity, and innovation,” the couple says.

The couple worked closely with The Distillery and its in-house planning team, Chad Biggs Event Planning & Design, to organize a seamless event. Cameron, who works as a wedding planner himself with the Chad Biggs team, used his skills in event planning and design to help bring it all together.
“Chelsea, our wedding planner, was the embodiment of awesomeness. Her impeccable coordination and unwavering dedication made our special day a seamless and unforgettable celebration,” the couple adds. “Cameron’s unique passion for design fueled a creative journey that spanned nearly two years as we meticulously crafted and curated every detail of our wedding day.”
Live painter Emily Howard and the Broughton High School Jazz Band entertained guests during cocktail hour, while The Extraordinaires kept guests dancing throughout the reception.
“The Distillery proved to be the perfect setting for our wedding reception, with its unique charm and versatile spaces setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration that blended elegance and intimacy flawlessly,” Jeremy and Cameron say.

For engaged couples, Cameron offers this advice: “Infuse your personalities and passions into every aspect of your wedding day, making it a true reflection of who you are as individuals and as a couple. Embrace the planning and design process as an opportunity to create lasting memories and enjoy the journey towards your special day.”
