Charleston Wedding Week – the Premiere Bridal Event from the South’s Leading Wedding Destination
Everyone knows that Charleston one of the top wedding destinations not just in the South, but in the US. Well if you didn’t already know that, you can imagine why that’s so! It is one of the prettiest towns in the country, with its colorful historic rows of homes and buildings, lots of green space draped in Spanish moss in its walkable downtown region, and a lovely waterfront. Add to that a world-class culinary scene, breathtaking wedding venues in and outside of Charleston proper, and a warm climate, and you’ve got a fantastic Southern travel and wedding destination.
Charleston’s historic beauty, swoon-worthy shopping and vibrant nightlife also lends itself to a fantastic destination for bachelorette parties and other travel adventures. And that’s exactly how we see Charleston Wedding Week shaping up to be – a fabulous travel opportunity not just for wedding professionals, but for any girls who admire the Southern fashion scene, or as the focus or an add-on to a Charleston bachelorette party.
Cannon Green Cocktail Party for Charleston Wedding Week
Cannon Green, one of the best restaurants in Charleston, made a beautiful setting for the first bridal fashion show of Charleston Wedding Week 2018.
Guests entered the Cannon Green courtyard area for a cocktail party. Even for Charleston, where weather is usually kind, the air seemed to grace us with an extra layer of warmth on this January evening! And so we freely mingled – of course – all the while documenting the loveliness of the setting, and ogling the fabulous fashion on display from the Charleston who’s who in attendance.
We also ran into the Diamonds Direct crew, who are not only preferred vendors recommended by Heart of NC Weddings magazine, but also sponsor Charleston Wedding Week. A rep from Henri Daussi, a co-sponsor, was present as well. That night, this team gave away a wedding band at the end of the fashion event!
Charleston Bridal Salons Present Cannon Green Fashion Show at Charleston Wedding Week
The first of two major fashion show productions from Charleston Wedding Week 2018, the Cannon Green event was a lineup of top bridal salons in Charleston itself. (Whereas, the second, finale fashion show was focused on designer presentations- many whom were Charleston-based as well).
The interior of Charleston restaurant Cannon Green was transformed into a long runway. Each participating wedding dress shop sent out their own models. So the bridal gowns we saw included the more popular bridal styles of this season.
We’re sharing some of our favorite looks from the Charleston Wedding Week 2018 Cannon Green bridal runway presentations – photographed by f8 Photo Studios.
As you can see by these shots below from Charleston Fashion Week at Cannon Green, sheer wedding dresses are still in high fashion for 2018. This is a trend that came in strong a few years back, and has remained popular.
Another major wedding dress trend is the off-the-shoulder bridal look. This flattering style looked chic on the Charleston Wedding Week runway at Cannon Green.
Charleston Wedding Week 2018 showcased loads of classic shape wedding dresses with deep V-necks. This was the look of the fashion event! It even translated into the bridesmaid looks from Bella Bridesmaids.
Do not fear if none of these wedding dress trends are calling to you. The coolest thing about bridal fashion is that it reflects street fashion. And it can be interpreted in so many ways. So whether that’s a boho look, a cape, an oversized bow, or a slouchy t-shirt look, whatever your fave current ready-to-wear style is, you can be sure to find it in a wedding dress. That means any bride or bridesmaid can walk down the aisle feeling like (a fancy version of) YOU. Props to Charleston Wedding Week for showcasing so many amazing bridal gown styles at this event.
