Surprise Proposal in Charlotte, NC
With their first date in Charlotte, NC in 2016 it was just the beginning of Rose and Judson’s love story. From running dates in Myers Park to spending lots of time at Legion Brewing, Rose and Judson are a prime example of love! In May 2018 they moved and settled into Judson’s hometown, New Bern. The weekend after Thanksgiving 2019 changed everything. Judson organized a special afternoon at one of their favorite Charlotte spots, Legion Brewing. With friends surrounding them, he got down on one knee and asked the most important question of their lives!
Historic New Bern Wedding
Rose and Judson wanted a waterfront wedding reception with a unique style. They went with a coastal meets bohemian theme including pampas grass, woven chandeliers and a neutral color scheme throughout the space at Persimmons Restaurant. Rose and Judson wanted their wedding details to reflect their personalities as well as their love for the water. A neon blue sign broadcasted their last name and matched the blue lights on the family boat that was docked at The Persimmons for the night.
After working with The French Bee Events, Rose shares “Christa knows every local vendor and is definitely someone you want on your team! Christa & Anne worked hard to make sure everything went according to plan.”
There was no better place to exchange their vows than, The First Presbyterian Church holding family ties to the church since 1966. Judson’s pastor, Reverend Lloyd Griffith, led a personalized wedding ceremony.
Another sentimental addition to Rose and Judson’s special day was a delivery from Legion Brewing – a keg of their favorite beer to share with everyone during their reception.

Rose and Judson chose to hire a videographer as well as a photographer for their historic downtown New Bern wedding. Thomas Blake Film captured some of the best moments of the day! Thomas also highlighted New Bern’s small-town charm and incredible waterfront views. But above all, he expertly captured the love and bond between Rose and Judson. Watch the highlight video of their special day!
One of the most important members of the bride and groom’s family, Beau, their chocolate lab ran up to the wedding party while taking pictures in front of the church! Rose described it as a tearful moment that she will cherish forever!
Send-Off Down the Neuse River
For their final send-off as a married couple, Rose and Judson coasted away on a family boat named ‘Sweet Pea’. The crowd cheered and celebrated as the couple floated away! After returning from their boat ride, as an unspoken tradition Judson was pushed into the Neuse River for a celebratory wedding night swim!
