Gemstone and Geode Wedding Inspiration at Wrightsville Beach

By Hayley Upton, Event and Sales Manager for Bluewater Waterfront Grill and Oceanic at the Crystal Pier

As you cross over the Heide Trask Drawbridge onto Wrightsville Beach, you can’t help but notice Bluewater Waterfront Grill with its vibrant rooftop and stream of boaters all tying up for a delicious meal and refreshing cocktail. On the main floors, diners enjoy chef created dishes along the waterway all while the full 2nd floor event venue, plays host to newlywed couples as they dance the night away with 150 of their closest friends and family. With the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway glistening in the background, this waterfront restaurant and event venue has a long-standing history in Wrightsville Beach and has served as a celebratory location for so many.

On January 30, the Events Team of Bluewater Waterfront Grill along with their talented wedding industry partners orchestrated a styled shoot to capture the versatility of the chic event space while showcasing the latest wedding trends. Upon entering the styled venue, the ambiance was breathtaking. The table settings were iconic, the florals were luscious, the fireplace was crackling, and the lounge furniture was warm and inviting.

Wanting to play tribute to the beauty and nature that surround Bluewater, the events team looked to incorporate other natural elements into the overall theme and design. From there, the idea of a Geode cake was brought to life by Topiary Cake Design. Geodes and gemstones were tucked into the styled shoot using amber water goblets, hand-crafted geode name plates, hidden ruby tulips, aquamarine stones in the chandeliers, bold sapphire menus and invitation suite, and of course the four tiered geode cake with matching “Bride” and “Groom”mini cakes.

The tables were all dressed with Ivory Panama Linen paired with driftwood chargers, crisp white plates, amber water goblets, “Ocean Leaf” patterned napkins, and an artfully designed menu. Designs by Dillon carefully crafted momentous centerpieces for the styled shoot to unify all the elements together. Arrangements atop of gold harlow stands, bud vases of Blue Thistle, and candles filled the banquet tables while lower gold compote vases filled the round tables.

Bluewater’s Events Team developed a floorplan that played with angles, shapes and symmetry to show potential couples something new and exciting in the venue. Using a mixture of rectangle tables and round tables in the venue and then incorporating rented furniture provided by White Birch Rentals, each corner of the space had their own personalities and functions. A cozy lounge set by the fireplace and sweetheart table by the water all demonstrate the attention to detail and creativity that the Events Team bring to each event.

Chelsea Allegra Photography and her team worked their magic behind their lenses and seized every detail and moment. The entire vendor team all played a role in bringing this style shoot to life and providing a memorable atmosphere for guests to enjoy later that evening when they welcomed them in for a Bridal Open House.

Bluewater Waterfront Grill

For more than two decades Bluewater Waterfront Grill on the Intracoastal Waterway has been the framework for hundreds of couples who say, “I do.” This timeless wedding venue has seen renovations over the years, but its foundation is as strong as the vows themselves.

Bluewater also has a sister restaurant on the beach, Oceanic, with a oceanfront location and direct access to the Crystal Pier, making it a NC wedding venue fantasy just as much as Bluewater. Whether you’ve chose them for a venue or just dining in, it is almost impossible to pick a favorite of these two must-visit NC restaurants that serve only the freshest and most favorable catches on the island.
