Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today, we’re excited to share Alyssa and Josh’s glittering in gold wedding at historic NC bed & breakfast, The Preston Woodall House. The wedding had a timeless and elegant look in black and white, gold and emerald green.
Alyssa and Josh met freshman year in college though they attended different UNC campuses (Charlotte and Chapel Hill). In the fall, the passing of Alyssa’s grandfather, who was also Josh’s Sunday School teacher, led them to meet officially for the first time. About a month later, they realized there was something special between them and began dating. They dated long distance for six years, but knew after just a few months that their relationship was working towards marriage.
Josh’s proposal was an adventure (luckily one he planned intentionally for Alyssa). They started by enjoying breakfast together at Mama Dips restaurant in Chapel Hill and then took a walk to the quad. It was there he sat Alyssa down on the “kissing bench,” told her to close her eyes, gave her a kiss and took off running. He left behind a clue that would start her day-long scavenger hunt across the state reliving some of their best memories together. The best part was he had their dear friend come up and she spent the entire day videoing and taking pictures of the journey.
Along the way, his clues led to a dress store to pick out a dress and to the nail salon for a manicure with Alyssa’s closest friends. In the end, her last clue led to Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC which was where they had their first date. She walked down to a beautiful overlook at the lake and there was a rose with a poem he had written for her. When Josh finally proposed, it was a moment filled with much love, family, and friends. They all enjoyed dinner in downtown Winston-Salem with everyone who had been a part of that day.

The couple visited nine wedding venues across North Carolina before deciding on the Preston Woodall House, which they noticed in Southern Bride and Groom magazine. The moment they walked in the door, they got “that feeling.” From the luxurious Kate Spade themed bridal luncheon at the Preston Woodall House to the phenomenal wedding food created by Chef Brian to the attentive care that the owner of the venue (Joel) took to ensure their day was nothing short of magical, Alyssa and Josh were blown away. “They personalized our ceremony, including stories of our relationship over the years and incorporated our families and favorite bible stories,” Alyssa shared. Every little detail went off without a hitch.

At the end of the night, they changed into their “getaway outfits” and enjoyed one last dance with each other alone in the ballroom before their sparkler exit under the stars.
