Keegan & Shamir’s Wedding at The Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve
On March 19, 2021, high school sweethearts Keegan McCall and Shamir Sykes tied the knot at The Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve. Shamir met Keegan at their high school Halloween football game, where Shamir and Keegan’s friends were determined to set the two up. That football game marked the beginning of their love story.
Keegan and Shamir have celebrated many life milestones together, including graduating from East Carolina University. On the last morning of a family vacation to Myrtle Beach in 2019, Keegan insisted that Shamir and him wake up for the sunrise. Which was odd for Shamir, because she knows that Keegan is not a morning person. Keegan got down on one knee in the sand at sunrise and they celebrated with family afterward. Planning a Raleigh, NC Wedding
Shamir and Keegan worked with Alexia Williams and Caroline Placey from C and D Collective to plan their wedding. Alexia knew The Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve matched the couple’s style of a non-traditional industrial farmhouse aesthetic. In addition to being their wedding planner, Alexia was one of Shamir’s bridesmaids and is the wife of Keegan’s cousin. Since Alexia played such a big role in the couple’s wedding, Caroline served as day-of coordinator.
“Caroline came into the fold to help finalize the remaining loose ends and she did a great job,” Shamir says. “She was so attentive on our wedding day.”
Alexia says Keegan and Shamir were thoughtful clients who kept their guests at the top of their wedding priority list.
“They wanted the best experience for their guests along with a fun party to celebrate their union. Every decision they made took their wedding guest experience into account. It was such a pleasure planning alongside this amazing couple. Thank you for trusting in my wedding expertise!”
C and D Collective has been a preferred vendor of Heart of NC Weddings for many years. We personally know the entire team. Not only are they extremely talented women, but they are also down-to-earth, kind individuals. We cannot recommend them enough.

Raleigh Florist Sweet Love Blossoms
The couple hired Justine De Angelo owner of Raleigh-based florist shop Sweet Love Blossoms, to bring their wedding vision to life.

Modern Wedding Color Palette
The couple’s wedding color palette included burnt orange, cream, blush, dusky lavender and earthy tones. Shamir and Keegan did a fabulous job incorporating all of the colors into their wedding day design and attire. The Groom looked dapper in a burnt orange suit from SF Tailor. The bridesmaids wore dusky lavender dresses, which made the bride stand out in her gorgeous wedding dress by Tara Loren.
The bride’s favorite moment of their wedding day was the first look.
“Having that time to be together before the ceremony added a level of comfort, happiness and excitement,” Shamir says. “I’m so glad we didn’t have to wait all day to see one another.”
The groom’s favorite moment of the day was the sparkler send-off and stepping into the getaway car, “All of our hard work had come together and we got to just be together.”
