Maria and Ryan had been engaged for three of the five years they had been together and knew they were always planning an elopement ceremony. The couple moved to North Carolina from New York and began to do research in outdoor hiking areas, wanting to keep the ceremony true to them and their love for nature. They discovered Jordan Lake in Apex, NC (close to both Raleigh and Durham) and knew this was the place for them with its beautiful sunset views. With neutral greys, pinks and greens, hand crafted paper vow booklets, and beautiful scenery, this outdoor elopement ceremony at Jordan Lake in Apex, NC was so incredibly dreamy.

The couple’s elopement ceremony had a color theme of soft pinks, blush, grey, and green. They wanted the natural colors of the landscape as their main color scheme and the details and attire to seamlessly blend.

Though they eloped, the bride still wanted their day to be special like any traditional wedding would be. She had her hair and makeup done by Parlor Blow Dry Bar. Maria shared that “they were wonderful to work with. I loved the loose curls the hairdresser helped me obtain and they didn’t fall flat!”

The bride, Maria, Owner and Creative Director, Blush and Blue Calligraphy Designs, hand crafted custom vow booklets and other calligraphy designs for their special day. It’s so unique and fun to see someone being able to use their craft during their wedding!

The bride shared, “Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you must forgo details. Take the opportunity to have fun with day and make it 100% yours and your husbands. I loved including custom vow books for my husband, officiant and I to use during the ceremony. I adorned my bouquet with ribbons on which I wrote some of the lines from our vows and favorite songs onto.”

The couple chose a personal friend for their officiant of their outdoor elopement ceremony at Lake Jordan in Apex, NC. They had visited the lake a few weeks earlier and she suggest the Maria and Ryan get married there and she would officiate. When the bride asked her later to do it, her response was to send a picture of her ordained certificate!

The couple said that having our dog, Tilda, be a part of the ceremony was something that was extremely important to them. Maria said, “I made Tilda a fun collar with ribbons that matched my bouquet, adorned it with some extra baby’s breath, and dubbed her honorary flower girl.”
