Gorgeous Outdoor Tented Wedding Designed by Grace Leisure Events for Interfaith Bride & Groom
When most people hear “backyard wedding” or “private home wedding,” they imagine a sentimental and simple wedding ceremony and reception. Sentimental is true. What could be more meaningful than getting married at the home you grew up in? It’s a venue that no one else has ever used before, and a place that symbolizes love and family. However, a private home wedding is anything but simple. That’s why Ben and Amanda hired one of the best backyard wedding planners in NC, Grace Beason of Grace Leisure Events, to design an outdoor tented wedding that will go down in Chapel Hill history. Grace Leisure transformed Ben’s family home in Chapel Hill into an elegant venue with rustic, antique, and springtime touches. The result? An elegant interfaith wedding – Southern Baptist and Jewish – including personal details and visual excellence. Keep scrolling to read about an incredible marriage proposal that crosses oceans!
Wild & Whimsical Indonesian Island Proposal
All Ben had was a guidebook and his gut instinct. He had just a few hours before Amanda would be wondering where he had gone. Of course he had planned on proposing to Amanda for a long time now, but suddenly the romantic background of Indonesia seemed more fitting than their cramped apartment in DC. During a two week work trip in Indonesia Ben was struck with the wild and whimsical. One day while Amanda was working, Ben trekked across Indonesia to a local art store in Jakarta to select a beautiful handcrafted ring. Amanda was completely taken by surprise when Ben got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him on the private island villa where they were staying. When they got home to the U.S., Ben proposed again using the real ring, but that ring from Jakarta will forevermore symbolize the romance and adventure on which their marriage is founded.
Let the Adventure Begin, With Wedding Hair & Makeup on location in Chapel Hill by Makeup For Your Day
Amanda and her two bridesmaids had a blast getting ready for the big backyard wedding. Makeup for Your Day specializes in wedding hair and makeup that matches each unique bride’s taste and style. Amanda chose an elegant updo with natural makeup to match her sophisticated white, lace, strapless bridal gown and cathedral veil. The bridesmaids floated through the springtime air in soft blue bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaids. Floral bouquets by Watered Garden combined the classic colors of the outdoor wedding – white and blush.
Meanwhile, the groomsmen got dressed in handsome navy suits with silver bow ties. Customized luggage tags that read “Let the adventure begin” and the date of Amanda and Ben’s wedding were the perfect wedding favor for their bridal party and guests. Luggage tags represented the couple’s adventurous love story while also honoring friends who came to share their special day from overseas. Guests from as far away as Portugal, Kenya, and Vietnam joined in the wedding fun!
Interfaith Chapel Hill Wedding Ceremony Full of Compromises and Compassion
For Ben and Amanda, the thoughtful expression of their interfaith relationship was the most important element of their private outdoor wedding ceremony. A ceremony chuppah was built in the front yard for the ceremony and is now a permanent fixture as well as special wedding momento. The chuppah is a canopy under which couples stand during the wedding ceremony that represents the future home and life the couple will build together. Family members and friends participated in the wedding ceremony by reading scripture, poetry passages, and the Seven Blessings.
After Ben placed the ring on Amanda’s finger, he raised his right foot and stomped on a small purse of glass! The breaking of the glass symbolizes the destruction of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem and the indestructible nature of marriage vows and faith. Mazel tov!
Stunning Outdoor Clear Top Tented Wedding Reception at Private Home in Chapel Hill, by Grace Leisure Events
It’s hard to say what detail stole the show at Ben and Amanda’s private outdoor wedding reception. Was it the magical clear top tent from CE Rental? Was it the gorgeous floral chandeliers and romantic lighting from Get Lit Event Lighting? Let’s just say, Grace Leisure Events brought together some of the most talented wedding vendors in the triangle to create a backyard wedding masterpiece.
Tables covered in creamy white linens and brilliant, towering garden bouquets by Watered Garden greeted hungry guests for dinner. In between eating and dancing, guests relaxed on plush white and blush luxury furniture. One of Amanda’s favorite wedding reception memories include ZimZoom Photo Booth,
“I loved our photo booth. Not only was it fun taking pictures with all our friends, but we received a book at the end with a copy of everyone’s photos and handwritten messages. It was a great way to capture more photos of our wedding guests than our photographers were able to.”
