A Rosy, Romantic Spring Wedding

Raleigh Wedding Planner Bustled Events Brings Simple, Contemporary Design to The Maxwell

Tyler and Janice got married at The Maxwell in Raleigh on April 23, 2021, with the help of Diane Wolk of Bustled Events. The Raleigh wedding planner organized a simple, clean and contemporary event they had dreamed of.

The couple first met after Janice transferred to N.C. State University to be closer to her family. A Pennsylvania native, Tyler had moved south to attend N.C. State to study engineering. The two knew each other through their college ministry. But they didn’t cross paths often due to their busy schedules. Eventually, through mutual friends, the pair grew closer and started dating at the end of their senior year.

Tyler asked for Janice’s parents’ blessings when the couple visited them in September. That same month, Janice was planning a girls trip to the beach. Little did she know, all her best friends were helping Tyler plan his proposal. Before dinner one night, the girls went to take pictures on the beach. They came upon a beautiful setup with lights, flowers, pictures and Champagne. Janice remembers thinking, “Someone is getting proposed to. We better hurry or else we’ll get in the way!” She was floored to find out that the whole thing was actually for her!

Bustled Events: Expert Raleigh Wedding Planner

Planning a wedding during the pandemic was difficult. “We had so many friends and family that we wanted to invite, but we were also worried about getting and/or spreading COVID-19. It took us a while to find and decide on a venue because we were debating if we wanted to get married up north close to our families or to get married in Raleigh with all of our friends,” Janice says. In the end, they decided to tie the knot in the city where they’d met. The next step was fining a Raleigh wedding planner who could bring their vision into reality. Diane Wolk of Bustled Events became their trusted wedding planner. Diane helped the couple navigate the process of planning a wedding during uncertain times.

“Diane Wolk is hands down the most efficient person I have ever met. I knew I wanted her to be my planner when we met for our initial conversation. She is extremely knowledgeable about the wedding industry and truly saved me a lot of time, money and stress!” Janice says.

Rosy Tones and Romantic Vibes at The Maxwell in Raleigh

Tyler and Janice chose their favorite modern venue – The Maxwell in Raleigh. They loved the white brick interior, high ceilings and clean, contemporary vibe of the wedding venue. Diane helped assemble the simple, white- and rose-toned wedding they had envisioned. With a wedding color palette of rose gold, shades of dusty rose and white, they certainly achieved a clean, modern look.

Janice was given a copy of Heart of NC Weddings, which led her to find some of the amazing vendors who brought her dream wedding to life, including Catering Works. “Chelsea Hand and her venue staff were a joy to work with,” Janice says. “They were super understanding and flexible when we encountered some hiccups along the way. The food was delicious, and Kelli Harrison and her staff were so kind and helpful from beginning to end.”

Flawless Wedding Planning by Bustled Events

Putting together a wedding with the additional stress of a pandemic posed its challenges. Still, the couple and their vendors flawlessly executed a perfect wedding day. Janice’s favorite moment was when she and Tyler got to spend a few quiet moments in The Maxwell’s getting-ready suite together following the ceremony.

“We were just so happy to be married and I’m glad that we got away from everything and everyone even if it was just for a couple of minutes,” says Janice.

The couple chose an understated white cake from Edible Art Bakery & Dessert Cafe. An elegant, three-tier white cake, it carried on the modern theme of the evening. Florals coordinated with the bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets. The florals where all were assembled by Janice and her friends. While creating the floral elements without a florist added stress, Janice says, it was also and bonding experience among the wedding party.

The bride’s advice for newly engaged couples is to enjoy every moment. “Your wedding day will fly by so fast, so don’t worry about the little details and just be present. Be present with your new [partner] and just enjoy the party.”

The Maxwell’s backdrop of white brick creates a blank slate that can lend itself to a range of styles. Take a look at this modern styled shoot, which uses dramatic floral design and navy linens for a much different mood!
