The Pit Durham Reimagined As Rooftop Wedding Venue
Looking for a unique and dynamic wedding venue in downtown Durham? The Pit Durham has recently transformed what was a beloved barbecue restaurant to host weddings. Now, this versatile warehouse space – which used to be a soda bottling plant – includes a rooftop with panoramic city backdrops. Uniquely situated, The Pit has a great view of Durham’s downtown skyline. This is one of the largest rooftop event venues you’ll find in the Bull City. Watch Mark’s video from The Pit below!
This styled shoot planned by Events by Emily illustrates a moody, romantic scene. A ceremony setup on The Pit’s rooftop is decorated with florals from Floral Dimensions and rentals from Curated Events Raleigh. The stormy skies are well-suited to the style of Durham-based videographer Mark Maya.
The Pit opening for dining in 2013. Since then, it’s earned a stellar reputation for barbecue in a town that’s not short on classic Southern food. The same whole-hog, authentic pit-cooked barbecue that made The Pit so popular is available still through in-house catering. When you book the venue, you’ll have several catering options to choose from. This exceptional food is sure to be one of the highlights your guests will remember.
The Pit also has indoor spaces for your reception or cocktail hour in addition to space for 120 on the rooftop. In total, as many as 350 guests can be accommodated throughout this two-story building.
Another perk of The Pit’s downtown location is the proximity to upscale hotels – 21c Museum Hotel and The Durham Hotel are just a few minutes away – as well as plenty of entertainment, breweries and bars.
