Spring Elegance at the McAlister-Leftwich House in Greensboro, NC

At Timeless Greensboro, NC, Wedding Venue, Bowerbird Flowers & Apothecary Creates Dreamy Spring Floral Design

“Our vision for this shoot was ‘Let me show you what you want,’” says Maggie Beadle of C&D Events West, part of the C&D Events team that serves the Greensboro, NC, area plus Winston-Salem and other western parts of the state.

Maggie served as the planner and designer of this refreshingly modern styled wedding at Greensboro’s McAlister-Leftwich House.

Cheery shades of yellow and pink paired with navy and neutral cream decorate the interior of the Gant Room inside the Leftwich House. The space suits small-scale celebrations as one of several indoor and outdoor ceremony sites that the venue offers. A circular seating arrangement bordered with overflowing florals and greenery creates an atmosphere of intimacy among guests and the couple, portrayed by models Jasmine Brown and Rony Thomas.

Dreamy Spring Florals by Bowerbird Flowers & Apothecary

Maggie says that Bowerbird Flowers & Apothecary’s signature blend of rich color and texture throughout garden-like florals brought a dose of vibrancy to the styled shoot, photographed by Fancy This Photography’s founder, Nikki Whitt Belch. At the entrance to the black-and-white tiled hallway connecting the Leftwich and McAlister houses, a stunningly unique arbor is composed of 350 green hydrangea stems. The florist chose the arrangement with the intention of “add an enchanted entrance” to the reception. Floor-to-ceiling windows border the hallway and let in waves of natural light for resplendent portraits and couple shots.

Uniquely Classic Wedding Design

“We put a new twist on classic details, including the unique arbor, making a painting for the unity ceremony and having sweet honey for the favors,” Maggie says in a discussion of the timeless, romantic theme she aimed for. The unity painting exemplifies this theme; a classic symbol meant to reflect a balance of practicality and sentiment.

“For this shoot, I reached a little outside of my personal minimal design preference to bring together some bold colors and patterns. We built of the table top with a solid mauve linen and some fun, patterned china and bold napkin. The cake linen was my absolute favorite!”

Diane Joyal, Bowerbird’s founder and CEO, and lead designer Amanda Davila mixed garden roses, ranunculus, snapdragons, itoh peony and bupleurum among the bouquet, centerpieces and bud vases. Bowerbird’s gift shop and full-service floral design studio based in Durham create arrangements that often play with whimsical and organic shapes, yet remain grounded in timeless beauty.

A two-tiered cake by Raleigh baker Sugar Euphoria on a display table set with candles and bright, patterned linen from Curated Events Raleigh, and topped with more bright blooms, is the sweet finale to this romantic scene.
