The Orpheum Wedding Venue in Downtown Oxford

And the wedding venue Oscar award goes to … husband-and-wife duo Cody and Britnye Shore for The Orpheum – their restored movie theater event venue in downtown Oxford! The Orpheum first opened its doors to moviegoers in 1942. This year, the Shores, the same family behind the Morgan Farms venue, invited couples back to celebrate their love in an art deco-inspired space. A team of local vendors led by Caroline Placey of C & D Events showcased The Orpheum’s luxury amenities with a styled shoot that would make Jay Gatsby jealous.

Lyz Caldwell served as the styled shoot’s model. Lyz looked stunning in a beaded wedding dress and cape and radiated romance beneath The Orpheum’s chandelier and neon lighting.

Meet the Planner – Caroline Placey with C & D Events

“We wanted to show how a small elegant wedding followed by a dinner party could look just as beautiful and classy as a large event,” planner Caroline says. “We included some COVID-19 precautions such as a guest favor that included masks and sanitizer. We wanted to show that these items can add to the decor if done well!”

Modern Romance at The Orpheum NC Wedding Venue

Raleigh-based florist The English Garden complemented Caroline’s vision with bundles of lavish florals in neutral shades with pops of mauve and pampas grass to decorate each of The Orpheum’s three different levels. The first floor features grand ceilings, a main event space, The Carolina Suite, a bar, handicapped-accessible restrooms and a catering prep kitchen.

Nikki Whitt Belch of Fancy This Photography captured the couple’s natural beauty on camera as they moved from the first floor, to The Mezzanine on the second floor, and The Projection Suite on the third floor.

Decor & More at The Orpheum NC Wedding Venue

Reception decor from American Party Rentals featured black chairs and white linens with pops of blush, burgundy and mustard yellow. Taper candles and paper products by Mason Dixon Designs added texture to each table setting. One of Caroline’s favorite elements was the floating cake backdrop.

“We built a dried floral wall to be used as a cake backdrop and for styling couple photos,” Caroline explains. “It’s an element that I think is often forgotten. Using one piece on the wedding day for multiple things is a great way to save cost but still have a statement for your design!”
