Love in Color
Alexandra Blackmon, the photographer of this styled shoot, was ready for a creative outlet. She says “in a world of nudes and pastels, I needed to see some color, and fast!” A romantic summer garden wedding design was created with bright colors and rich greenery from the surrounding area. Alexandra showcased intimate weddings that are happening more frequently due to the ongoing pandemic. Smaller but more intimate table settings and photos of the bride and groom around the indoor and outdoor spaces.
The summer garden was painted with touches of yellow, apricot, lavender, blushes and blues in order to get the full look. Fun colors brought forth the summery feel that surrounded the styled shoot. Pink candles and place settings along with splashes of pink flowers also added a feminine aspect to the design. The concept allowed for a beautiful backdrop of The Merrimon-Wynne House to shine throughout the entire shoot.
History of The Merrimon-Wynne House
Built in 1876, The Merrimon-Wynne House has been carefully restored to its original grandeur. In addition to the picturesque home, The Merrimon-Wynne House has an expansive lawn for outdoor cocktail hours or receptions. Located in the heart of historic downtown Raleigh, the venue is only a few doors away from the Governor’s Mansion.
The Merrimon-Wynne House was officially restored in 2014 for couples to experience its magic and share it with friends and family on their wedding day.
The Merrimon-Wynne House Experience
Rental of The Merrimon-Wynne House means the property and facilities are exclusively yours for the entire day!
Start by getting ready in luxurious suites, each complete with ample natural light, lounge furniture and mirrors to get prepped for your big day. After the wedding party gets ready, they can pose on the grand staircase or the front porch, both picture-perfect areas for first looks and wedding portraits.
There is a beautiful green lawn for the outdoor wedding ceremonies or receptions, as well as the Carriage House – a large event space that can serve as either a backdrop for a ceremony or as an indoor reception space. The Carriage House has modern chandeliers, exposed beams and large doors that open to a pergola and lawn. It’s a comfortable space for a wedding reception and well suited to an unforgettable dance party.
The property is stunning by itself – but a couple can always drape market lights across the lawn, add floral arbors and so much more to bring their stories to life within the space.
