Fall Wedding Design by Anthem House Creative Director Amanda Honeycutt

For 2 ½ years, Kelly and Zachary lived 20 minutes apart in the Triangle without meeting. A serendipitous moment brought them together over a shared love of pop culture and bar trivia. Six years later, Zach proposed during sunset at Holden Beach, North Carolina, after disguising the event as a family photo shoot. The couple celebrated their union during a classic fall wedding at The Merrimon-Wynne House on Nov. 12, 2022.

Officiant Ann McKenzie helped to ensure the ceremony respected both Kelly and Zach’s religious beliefs. They signed an interfaith ketubah, and their parents read prayers from their respective faith traditions. “We loved the The Merrimon-Wynne from the moment we saw it, and everything flowed from there,” Zach says.

“We locked down our amazing wedding planner Amanda Honeycutt, without whom none of this would have been possible,” Zach shares. Kelly and Zach wanted a classic, timeless feel, and Amanda, creative director of Raleigh wedding planning team Anthem House, delivered.

Polished Fall Palette at The Merrimon-Wynne House
Amanda guided the couple in choosing vendors including Curated Events Raleigh and tied together a polished fall color palette throughout the venue.
“Rocky Top Catering provided absolutely delicious food,” Zach says. “We still think about the passed apps we got in our to-go box at the end of the night.” The couple’s favorite memories are of their first look and private vows. “It felt like a beautiful moment just for us before the happy chaos of everything that followed,” says Zach, who was “blown away” upon first seeing Kelly’s White Bridal Boutiques gown.
