Comfortable In Front of the Camera – Fancy This Photography

The couple started their shoot near the Durham Hotel before venturing to the parking deck that overlooks the American Tobacco Campus. Megan emphasizes that, along with being impressed by Nikki’s work, she and Edward enjoyed the shoot because they felt comfortable around Nikki.

“Comfort was really important to us because we don’t take pictures together often so we can get a bit awkward and wanted someone who we felt relaxed around,” Megan says. “[She] was great at coaching us [and] made us feel at ease, and we had so much fun roaming around downtown Durham.” 

With Fancy This Photography, Nikki’s goal is to capture the authentic sides of the couple she photographs. She loves working with couples who are genuine, prioritize their relationship, and who are looking to have a fun and unique wedding. Before, Nikki likes to get to know the couple, which contributed to Megan and Edward’s comfort during their downtown shoot. 

Relationship Reunited in Downtown Durham

Megan and Edward chose downtown Durham for their engagement photos because, after years in a long distance relationship, it was the city that finally brought them together. After meeting at the University of Georgia, Megan’s graduate school and administrative fellowship at Duke University Hospital kept them apart for 3.5 years until Edward moved to Durham in 2019. The couple plans to tie the knot in the Bull City, and wanted to give friends and family a sneak peak of Durham through their engagement photos. 

The couple’s engagement photos feature several Durham landmarks, including the famous Bull Durham sign and the striking sunrise mural on Main Street.
