Fall Mountain Wedding at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure
Lovers of all things musical and fun, Emma and Kameron had the time of their lives as they tied the knot at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure on Sept. 18, 2021. This mountain wedding venue nestled between the sweeping hills and serene lakes of Western North Carolina proved to be the ideal host for the couple’s joyous day filled with romance. High School Sweethearts
Emma and Kameron grew up in the small town of Brevard, North Carolina, and met during a Rosman High School production of Grease acting as each other’s love interests. What started as a close friendship turned into love when Kameron asked Emma to the movies for their first date, and the rest is history. Years later, the high school sweethearts sailed off the coast of Cuba on a Disney Cruise and got engaged in May 2019. “Without HONCW, we would have never found Rumbling Bald and I can’t thank the magazine enough for its part in our big day,” Emma says.
As a Dirty Dancing fan, Emma knew she wanted Rumbling Bald, where the iconic movie was filmed, to host her wedding. Although she first picked October 16 for their wedding date, Emma compromised and snatched one of the resorts’ last remaining fall dates available, which moved her wedding date up about a month.
Not only did Rumbling Bald host the couple’s ceremony and reception, but also provided catering in-house. Emma and Kameron’s guests enjoyed mini crab cakes, a mashed potato bar, a biscuit station and more delicious dining during their cocktail hour and reception. Linens, tables, chairs and china rentals were also provided by Rumbling Bald Resort.
Emma and Kameron’s Fairytale Wedding Day
Days before the wedding, the weather forecast predicted a downpour. When Sept. 18 arrived, the clouds magically parted for Emma and Kameron’s big day. Their wedding photographer, Emily McCracken, captured the day’s sweetest moments. “I can’t say enough nice things about Emily. Not only are our photos are absolutely stunning, but she also did everything she could to make everyone comfortable the whole time,” Emma says.
Handmade decorations that Emma and her mother created together decorated each guest table. Guests also enjoyed a slice of the wedding cake baked by Emma’s aunt and floral arrangements from The Blossom Jar. Emma, who planned the entire wedding herself, was ecstatic to see the event come to life after months of planning, and celebrate with friends and family.
Emma walked down the aisle wearing a blush ballgown purchased at Meadowbrooke Bridal in Weaverville, NC, and fairytale glass slippers from Aldo’s Disney collection. With hair and makeup done by Beauty by Whits World and jewelry from Olive + Piper, the bride looked like a princess stepping right out of a fairytale.
“What was special about our wedding is that I touched and had a part in every last detail that our guests experienced,” says Emma. “I called the wedding my baby because it literally was. It was a cumulation of Kameron and I’s love story and over two and a half years of hard work.”
Advice from the Bride
“Breathe! Take it all in,” Emma says. “It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks – do what is going to make you and your new husband smile.”
The couple currently resides in Northern Virginia, where Kameron works for Arlington County and Emma works in journalism at The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The couple are also learning to live in a house divided as Emma is a Tar Heel fan and Kameron sports red for the N.C. State Wolfpack.
