Carolyn and Justin met on their first day of job training for a consulting group after college graduation. After quickly becoming friends, the couple began seriously dating when they were staffed on the same project in Australia. Carolyn and Justin lived in Australia for six months – six years later, Justin got down on one knee in their first apartment together in Manhattan on New Years Eve! Honestly, is there any better new year’s resolution than to spend the rest of your life with the person you love?

Although she loves to shoot film, even Danielle Smith’s digital wedding photography has the soft and romantic look of fine art photos. Her style is perfect for capturing the natural beauty of North Carolina’s landscape, from the mountains to the coast. Bride Carolyn was so taken with Danielle James Photography that she asked Danielle to travel all the way to New York to take her and Justin’s engagement photos.

Danielle became a wedding photographer because of how much she loved looking at her parent’s wedding album. It’s her goal to give real NC couples like Carolyn and Justin the same gift. Less than one week after their Barn of Chapel Hill wedding, Danielle had an album of photos for the newlyweds to enjoy!

Spring Wedding at the Barn of Chapel Hill

Even though the spring 2020 wedding season was postponed, we can still use Carolyn and Justin’s wedding at the Barn of Chapel Hill for inspiration! After looking for wedding venues in New York and Philadelphia, the bride and groom settled on the Barn of Chapel Hill NC wedding venue for it’s natural beauty and casual chic ambiance. Chapel Hill holds a special place in Carolyn’s heart since she attended UNC Chapel Hill and her best friend and Maid of Honor lives there.

Carolyn and Justin’s wedding day featured a color palette of white, green and slate blue. The Barn of Chapel Hill’s onsite florist, Wild Flora Flowers, designed beautiful bouquets of white blossoms, greenery and eucalyptus leaves. Delicate cream linens and slate blue napkins from CE Rental perfected the Barn of Chapel Hill reception. Although Carolyn and Justin’s minibernedoodle puppy Ollie could not attend the wedding, he made an appearance on cocktail napkins and their specialty cocktail sign “Ollie’s Old Fashioned”.

Sparkler Exit Bride and Groom NC Wedding Photographer Blissmore Photography

After dancing the night away to a live band, the bride and groom exited through a sparkler tunnel of family and friends – and yet, bride Carolyn wanted to go back inside the Barn of Chapel Hill one more time. Inside, she found her parents waltzing on the barn dance floor by themselves. The dance floor had been crowded all night. The groom did the worm and each family member got to do the traditional jewish hora dance. Finding Carolyn’s parents alone on the dance floor was a beautiful and quiet way to end an unforgettable day.
