Planning a Wedding During a Pandemic
COVID-19 didn’t make anything easy for 2020 brides. With their original wedding date cancelled, Ayisha and Dan had to figure out a new way to safely say “I do” in front of their friends and families. For them, that meant rescheduling their big day for October and taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of all their guests. To do so, the couple required that everyone in attendance present a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the reception.
The bride and groom also came up with the idea to have guests wear different color coded wristbands to indicate their comfort level with social distancing and have everyone wear masks. Luckily, COVID-19, did not stop the fun, and Ayisha and Dan successfully pulled off their wedding without anyone getting sick, which made all the hard work absolutely worth it!

Getting by with a Little Help from their Friends
Good friends make everything in life easier, and they are especially important when planning a wedding. According to Ayisha, the couple’s friends played a big part in the wedding planning experience.
“Our friends all pitched in so much–Maddy Dunivin did the flower arrangements, tent design and the gorgeous alter.” Ayisha said. “Megan Holland did the wine, Alexis did the gift bags and everyone really pitched in with all the missing pieces and day-of decor.
Ayisha’s bridesmaids also added their own styles and touches to the wedding day. Since she wanted to celebrate their own unique personalities and styles, the bride didn’t ask the bridesmaids to match, which according to her, made a stunning bridal party, which was “perfectly mismatched” on the big day.

“Nikki was awesome to work with,” she said. “She was a pro at art directing while social distancing–communicating best poses via charade-like tactics, while making everyone feel like family at the same time.”
“The photo gallery was absolutely breathtaking. I wish that Dan and I could take all the credit, but it truly was Nikki’s vision that made these photos the masterpieces they are.”
Ayisha & Dan Reflect on their Special Day at The Inn at Celebrity Dairy
The couple celebrated their love at The Inn at Celebrity Dairy, located in Siler City, NC. The beautiful Inn sits on a 300-acre working dairy farm that was perfect for Ayisha and Dan’s COVID-safe wedding day. While the bride and groom celebrated many special moments during their big day, they said that what was really important to them was that their friends and families showed up for their wedding day, whether in-person or virtually.
While some of their guests were unable to attend, the couple had them send in pre-recorded speeches and toasts that were projected onto the big screen the night of the wedding, a special touch that made planning and having a wedding during a pandemic completely worth it.
“People say it all the time..”I wouldn’t have missed it for the world”, well, on this occasion in this particular year, it had a totally different meaning when people said it to us at the end of the night.”
Ayisha and Dan are currently living out their happily ever after in Washington, DC where Dan works for the Treasury and Ayisha works in commercial real estate development.
