Market Hall – A Downtown Raleigh Warehouse Wedding Venue among the cobblestone streets of City Market

Did you know there are fantastic warehouse wedding venues located in City Market? This stunningly beautiful historic area in Raleigh has cobblestone streets, and is nestled across the street from Moore Square – home to the giant acorn sculpture! This darling and picturesque area of downtown Raleigh also has the wedding venue Market Hall. With two large industrial ballrooms under one roof, Market Hall is one of the most sought-after warehouse wedding venues in Raleigh.

The Market View room can host up to 350 seated with a dance floor, and most weddings are 150 to 250. Its white exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and ample natural light make it a great option for a daytime or nighttime event.

The Park View room can host up to 150 seated with a dance floor, and most weddings are 75 to 125. Couples love weddings in this space because of the blank canvas of the uber industrial building. It has an upstairs loft which can be used for a wedding ceremony, or a cocktail lounge. The black iron staircase that leads up and down to this loft is a centerpiece of the room. There is a giant wooden backdrop perfect for ceremonies, and windows line two of the walls.

Extra Amenities at Market Hall in Raleigh

Each space has its own spacious bridal suite – which is not always the case in warehouse wedding venues! They come with lounge furniture options, cocktail tables, and black chiavari chairs. With the in-house catering menu, glassware and silverware is also included.

One benefit to booking this Raleigh wedding venue is that you have easy access to portraits on the cobblestone streets outside. We’ve even seen some weddings ceremonies take place on the cobblestone streets! Plus, the spacious indoor space allows for safety in any weather. And best of all, it has an urban feel while still maintaining a crisp, white modern look that can be turned into any wedding style!

Brides and grooms love weddings at Market Hall, and we can confirm that it is a great place to party – because Team SB&G has been to several events there over the years. We have featured several Market Hall real weddings on the Southern Bride & Groom blog, and love how each one has its own identity within the spaces.

History of Market Hall

Built in 1914, Historic City Market it was Raleigh’s first Farmer’s Market! It closed in 1957 and turned into a furniture store in 1959. By 1980, the City Council decided to rehabilitate the Market and surrounding buildings. Joe Hakan and his son, Michael, bought and renovated the Market in the 1990s, allowing the space to come to life again. Ever since it has operated as catering, restaurant and event space. Today, the property’s history is honored with an in house chef inspired menu sourcing locally grown produce and ingredients.

We loved the raw, exposed brick, there were lots of lodging options for our guests, and we love that it was the original farmer's market! And they let us have our dog at the ceremony! We continue to get compliments on how delicious the food was!
