The Carolina Inn – Classic Wedding Venue for Chapel Hill Couples and UNC Alum

One of the best wedding venues in NC is The Carolina Inn. This most beloved Chapel Hill wedding venue is a destination for Southern and traveling brides alike. Couples come from all over the country to get married at this historic inn. Over the years, the Inn has managed to keep its historic beauty while gaining a modern flair. The hotel is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina. It’s not just UNC alums who are eager to exchange vows here, but they might top the list.

Event Spaces for Large weddings in Chapel Hill

You might know of The Carolina Inn as a place for grand weddings. There are six traditional ballrooms, each with unique Southern details. With its black-and-white checkered floors, the Old Well ballroom is possibly the most famous event space in Chapel Hill. The Hill Ballroom can host larger events.

There are multiple lawn areas which can be used for an outdoor wedding ceremony or cocktail hour. Two of these locations are large enough to be tented for an outdoor Chapel Hill wedding reception. Regardless of where you exchange your vows, every Carolina Inn wedding will include photos around the gorgeous grounds! And if you’re UNC alumni, please note that the Old Well is just a block away.

Rehearsal Dinners, Showers or Intimate Chapel Hill Weddings

There are several small private rooms at The Carolina Inn. These are great options for a shower, engagement party or rehearsal dinner in Chapel Hill. No two rooms are alike, and each parlor has its own character. Finally, take note that The Carolina Inn can host a traditional Southern afternoon tea, which is great for pre-wedding activities.

Service & Sophistication

With venue coordinators onsite, the team will make sure you’re set for the big day. They’ll also set you up with great list of recommended planners (many whom we recommend at Heart of NC Weddings – make sure to cross reference your vendor lists). It’s also worth noting, you can rest assured that the wedding food will be excellent. After all, the Inn is also famous for its onsite restaurant, Crossroads Chapel Hill.

The staff of Heart of NC Weddings magazine has not only attended dozens of events at The Carolina Inn over the years, but we have even hosted our own client event here. Therefore, we can personally attest to the high quality of food service at this Chapel Hill wedding venue.

Real Weddings at The Carolina Inn

We’ve featured many Carolina Inn weddings on Heart of NC Weddings over the years. HERE is an example of one of our favorite classic wedding days at this wonderful Chapel Hill venue!

The Carolina Inn will forever hold a special place in your heart that will make you want to come back each year to celebrate your anniversary in the place that you began your marriage. No matter if you are visiting town for a game, function, business meeting or getaway, they offer a great place to say while in Chapel Hill. Rooted in their traditions and charm of the south, Chapel Hill is home to rich history and culture, none the less The Carolina Inn offers a great touch of this incredible town. What more could a couple want in a venue? No wonder The Carolina Inn is one of the most requested wedding venues in NC.

Chapel Hill was also the place where Christopher’s parents lived after they first were married and it just seemed like a special place to start our marriage. We loved the thought of having so many family ties to The Carolina Inn and wanted to add to the special memories made there.

The Carolina Inn is a beautiful upscale hotel. They have a restaurant that offers room service or a dining room. The food is decadent and offers beer and wine as options with meals. The staff are all very professional and ensure you have a wonderful stately as well as dining experience. Be sure to place them at the top of your list for hotel accommodations when you are in the area.

We just celebrated our daughter's wedding at the Carolina Inn, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Everything from the reservations to the bridal brunch to the reception was A1 the staff is very accommodating, flexible and extremely professional. Bria in reservations and Kristen in catering were amazing. They were both very responsive and went above and beyond to make our weekend special. The rooms were immaculate, and everyone enjoyed their weekend. The food was delicious, and the service was exquisite.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding and were blown away by every detail. The staff were incredible, the facilities were beautiful, the food delicious, and the rooms very comfortable. It was a great way to start our marriage. We went back a few weeks ago to celebrate our anniversary and were happy to see the standards had remained the same. We ate at Crossroads and really enjoyed the food and cocktails.
