The Rickhouse – A Warehouse Wedding Venue in Downtown Durham that Overlooks the Original Durham Bulls Ballpark
The Rickhouse in Durham is the perfect warehouse wedding venue in Durham. In addition to an indoor space that comfortably seats 400 it has a large, partially covered concrete balcony overlooking the famed Durham Athletic Park, the original home of the Durham Bulls. This balcony is a deal sealer for many Durham natives who grew up with the Durham Bulls baseball team as a staple in their childhood.
Located in the Central Park District, the Rickhouse in Durham is located just a few blocks from the center of downtown Durham. Exposed ceilings with wooden beams and copper metal accents supply a couple with a beautiful slate to start with for their wedding decor.
There are unique features at The Rickhouse, including a chalk wall, and a wall made of tin that has funky stars embedded into the metalwork. But best of all, an entire wall of the venue has floor to ceiling glass windows that look into a distillery, filled to the brim with gorgeous copper equipment. The glass wall gives couples the unique opportunity to use the metal accents as a backdrop to their wedding ceremony or cocktail hour, instead of a traditional view.
The open-air layout of The Rickhouse serves both small and large wedding parties equally as comfortable. Some couples use the beams of the ceilings to hang curtains across the room to cut the venue into sections for their ceremony and reception others use the open space to their advantage to promote a free-flowing celebration throughout the day’s events.
The Rickhouse was awesome to work with! We were planning the wedding from Kansas City, and they made it super easy to communicate and get everything set up — something that could've been much more challenging as a long-distance bride.
