In today’s photo shoot from our 2016 magazine’s styled shoot spotlight series, the team from Gather Together event planning and design worked with some of their favorite SB&G coastal area vendors to create a romantic mariner-themed reception, with formal touches inspired by the 1930s social scene and details reflecting a love for travel on the sea. The historic City Club at de Rosset of Wilmington, a 19th century downtown mansion with columned porches, naturally landscaped brimming gardens and spectacular cuisine was the choice for this intimate soiree.

Historic mansions, a bustling riverfront with unique shops, great scenery and nearby beaches draw many couples looking for a beautiful Southern destination wedding to North Carolina’s Port City.
The wedding decor is filled with antique nautical, to navigate you through a beautiful seafairing-inspired wedding celebration too memorable to be forgotten. Enjoy an extended look at this shoot captured by Katherine Miles Jones Photography in the images below.
First, The bride, groom and their wedding party enjoy a toast at their well-stocked bar on a classic cart that rolls with the party.

Compass, anchors and a love poem on a vintage mirror are added reminders of the bride and groom’s adventure into marriage that lies ahead.
The rustic tables are paired with rattan seating and chargers to complement the seafaring theme, along with personalized place card favors that are tied to replicas from a sailor’s life at the helm. City Club serves a beautiful organic green salad, with or without local oysters, and mouth-watering plated steak and asparagus.

Lush green and white floral arrangements by Fiore Fine Flowers were topped off with a touch of sage-blue as a nod to the sea. The sweetheart table is set beneath a cascading chandelier of foliage and flowers hanging from a 100-year-old oak tree. A natural table runner of eucalyptus leaves intertwined with rope runs beneath a tiered centerpiece filled with lovely mementos and blossoms.

The bride looks stunning in a lace gown that has timeless and elegant appeal, while her bridesmaid sparkles in champagne sequins. Both gowns are from Coastal Knot and hair and makeup were done by Makeup for Your Day in Wilmington. And don’t the men look dapper in their classic tuxedos from Savvi Formalwear?
An old mailbox cubby is filled with a collection of seafaring tools and trinkets, and a wooden box where guests can lead the couple their all wishes on note cards takes the place of a traditional guest card box.

The garden and front porch are transformed with lounge furniture from Pomp Event Furnishings and a watercolor wedding cake by One Belle Bakery in Wilmington evokes sea and sky.

And the final send off is set on the docks, as the bride and groom literally sail off into the sunset.
