Wildflower Fields Surround The Barn of Chapel Hill

A dozen miles from downtown Chapel Hill sits a barn venue that’s unlike any other in the area. The Barn of Chapel Hill at Wild Flora Farm is situated on 22 acres of a working flower farm, design studio and apiary. Owner Kara Brewer fully renovated the 1864-era barn after the structure was relocated to Orange County from Marcy, New York, in 2016. The barn’s interior showcases hand-hewn hemlock beams and space to comfortably host 200, with a covered porch and spacious brick patios stretching beyond its doors.

The Barn of Chapel Hill’s Fifth Anniversary

The venue celebrated its fifth anniversary in August 2022 with an open house and interactive fashion show. Wild Flora Farm Creative Director Christine Wilkinson says these garden-like floral designs showcase unexpected pops of color, inspired by the wildflowers that spring up across the farm’s fields every summer. “This design creates a twist on the beautiful nature that surrounds us every season in North Carolina,” Christine says.

Zinnia and ‘Limelight’ hydrangea from Wild Flora’s gardens are paired with lilies, snapdragon, chamomile and blue-dyed tulips in bright bouquets, headpieces and bracelets (Christine and her team know how to elevate wearable flowers lightyears beyond basic boutonnieres). Models wear dresses from A&Bé Bridal Shop in Raleigh with soft hair and makeup by Wedded Kiss.

Wild Flora Farm offers full-service and a la carte options for events at the farm and off-site, and excels at creating custom installations, floating arrangements and ceremony backdrops. Of course, working with the Wild Flora team to decorate The Barn’s spaces is sure to produce magical results, as the design team knows exactly how to make the venue shine.

During the venue’s fifth anniversary open house event, Rocky Top Catering served Southern-inspired appetizers. A colorful picnic designed by Posh Picnic NC greeted guests on the lawn outside the barn.
