Robert David Darden IV and Hillary Newcomb both have a soft spot in their hearts for North Carolina beaches. Out of all the memories they’ve made together at the beach, the one where Bobby surprised Hillary with an engagement ring takes the cake.

Their memories of North Carolina beaches started when they first met each other in Morehead City. After a few years of dating long distance, they were ready to start dating forever! During a vacation at Atlantic Beach with family, Bobby planned a detailed proposal. After a romantic boat ride to Shackleford Banks, Bobby bent down to grab a shell, but really it was a rock – an engagement ring to be exact!

North Carolina Beach Wedding

Due to COVID-19, their wedding planning journey was stressful. In the end, Hillary says they planned their wedding twice, “Many glasses of wine were drank and tears were shed.”

Heart of NC Weddings was able to help Hillary with the wedding planning process, “I have always loved reading the Heart of NC Weddings magazine! Your magazine inspired us to choose an outdoor venue with the wide selection you had to offer.”

On Sept. 12, 2020, Hillary and Bobby tied the nautical knot with a Beaufort Hotel, NC wedding on the Crystal Coast. They chose the resort-style venue for it’s waterfront views and beautiful architecture. The couple raved about how beautiful the venue was and how the staff made their special day run smoothly! Their wedding featured a neutral color palette with green, white and mauve flowers designed by Your Perfect Day. Hillary and Bobby did not need to splurge on extra decor thanks to the natural beauty of the Beaufort Hotel!
