Bold, Bright and Beautiful Floral Design at Raleigh’s New Open-Air Chapel
Nestled on the outskirts of Raleigh, the charming open-air chapel, sweeping grassy fields and white barn of Walnut Hill are the perfect backdrop for a bright, vibrant citrus-inspired summer wedding photo shoot.
This styled wedding photo shoot planned by ACE Weddings & Events highlights the venue’s newest and most picturesque features, including the freshly painted white walls inside the main barn, plus the most charming spot to say “I do” on the property – a newly completed waterfront open-air chapel. This photo shoot came together with eye-catching bright floral arrangements, fun summer cocktails and whimsical fashion.
This styled wedding’s theme is summer citrus, which inspired bright florals that pop against the venue’s paved pavilion and sparkling pond, captured by Jen Hagan of jHagan Photography. Jen is one of the top wedding photographers in the Raleigh area and she specializes in bright, crisp wedding and portrait photography. You can surely see how Jen’s light, airy photography brings out the bold floral design and elegance at this Raleigh venue.
“This shoot was designed to feature a bold and beautiful color palette, perfect for warm spring or summer weddings,” says Hailey Rodriguez of ACE Weddings & Events. Hailey also designed peachy pink and white stationery to fit the look of this styled shoot.
The model wore a graceful lace Rita Vinieris ballgown from White of Raleigh with floral details and a deep V-neck, accented with jewelry from Kendra Scott. A fun lip color and loose waves by Pinup Studio finished this flirty, fun look.
The English Garden provided a vibrant bouquet and matching boutonnière, as well as tabletop arrangements, bar decorations and swags to adorn the open-air chapel. Lemons accented each arrangement and carried through the citrus theme, giving the venue a refreshing and fun burst of color. These hot pink, yellow and orange florals really pop against the white and gold accents of Walnut Hill’s bridal suite, chapel and main barn.
Stretching across 15 acres, Walnut Hill estate is a family-owned property that began hosting weddings in 2019. Husband and wife duo Amanda Peoples and Scott Peoples now own and operate this gorgeous venue and have turned it into a serene and picturesque place to say “I do.”
Summer Citrus Cocktails from Brewmasters Mobile
Fun signature cocktails created by wedding bar and beverage service vendor Brewmasters Mobile. The drinks tie into the overall theme of summer citrus fruits while adding a pop of juicy color. Molly and Morkos, the husband-and-wife behind Brewmasters, often collaborate with engaged couples to create custom signature cocktail menus to suit any palate.
From flatware to linens, table decor provided by Party Reflections brought a modern feel to this citrus-inspired photo shoot. Textured cream plates and ivory flatware are paired with bright white tablecloths. Light peach napkins – which match the bridal bouquet’s ribbon – and bright flowers give a burst of lively color to each table. Farmhouse chairs completed the look. Clear glass candleholders balanced the tabletop with a minimalist look, keeping florals front and center.
Meanwhile, Sugar Euphoria crafted an elegant and understated three-tier white cake. The cake’s clean finish stood out when adorned with lemons, oranges, grapefruits and bright flowers.
“Everyone brought a unique perspective or idea to the shoot and the collaboration between us all created this gorgeous shoot,” Hailey says.
How to Play with Color at Your Wedding
This styled shoot can serve as an inspiration for any couple willing to experiment with vibrant, bold floral design and whimsical themes on their big day. Don’t be afraid to carry a bold color scheme or theme throughout the entire event. “I hope couples will find inspiration from this shoot and won’t be afraid to be bold and have the wedding of their dreams,” Hailey says.
Bright Floral Design and Scenic Backdrops – The Perfect Pairing for Summer Weddings
Hailey attests to the fact that not many couples are willing to plan weddings during they height of summer, but this doesn’t have to be the case! Tying the knot during the summer months or early fall can be a cost-effective move. Even better, treating your venue as a blank canvas opens up a world of possibilities for a gorgeously vibrant wedding.
“Almost every vendor participating in this shoot was excited about the theme and color palette,” Hailey says. “This shoot gave them the opportunity to have fun with color.”
By combining traditional elements of the venue with modern decor and vibrant floral design, this styled shoot shows the benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone, getting creative and trusting vendors to make your wedding dreams a reality!
