Celestial Purple, Gold and Sapphire Wedding Design at The Cotton Room

Nightfall casts an enchanting spell over the space as the golden September sun sinks outside The Cotton Room’s windows. Romantic floral arrangements pair effortlessly with gilded decor, while celestial imagery adds a touch of mystique, creating a bold design that feels both transcendental and timeless.

The Cotton Room’s exposed brick and wood beams offered a rustic backdrop for this ethereal concept by Something Fabulous Weddings & Events.

“When working with venues that have a strong aesthetic, we like to lean into [that] and highlight the natural beauty of the space,” says Something Fabulous co-owner Trent Crumpler. “We look at elements that would create cohesion throughout the setting, [rather than those] that are going to compete.”

Dreamy Designs by Something Fabulous Weddings & Events: NC Wedding Planners

Vibrant color choices perfectly complement the vibe of this Durham, North Carolina, warehouse. Jewel tones of ruby and amethyst, plus a bewitching blue, feature in shimmering linens from Curated Events Raleigh and glittering wedding party gowns from Bella Bridesmaids Raleigh. Gold accents sparkle in flickering candlelight, bringing even more texture and magic to the scene.

Jewel-Toned Wedding Florals by Petal & Oak

Floral design and specialty rental company Petal & Oak – operated by TC Hospitality Group, the same folks behind The Cotton Room – supplied these
vivid florals that dazzle from every angle.

Chrysanthemums, roses and carnations in striking shades intertwine throughout these unique arrangements.

“Couples are increasingly looking to reflect their personal style rather than adhere to traditional wedding norms,” says Melissa Powers, Petal & Oak’s
creative director. “Unconventional color palettes allow for more creativity and individuality in design.” The deep wine and plum-colored blossoms pictured here are mitigated by soft pinks and greenery, she says, noting that additional balance is provided by the locale. “Industrial venues with raw and edgy aesthetics provide a striking backdrop for bold color choices. The contrast between the space and vibrant colors can create a dramatic and memorable setting.”

Celestial Themed Reception at The Cotton Room

Melissa also says that The Cotton Room’s high ceilings allow for tall, geometric metal structures, where flowers and string lights coalesce in eyecatching installations. Plush, cobalt couches from Petal & Oak’s extensive inventory of lounge furniture provide a place for imaginary guests to sit a spell. Astral depictions shine throughout decor details as the evening proceeds. Menus take on lunar shapes, and sun- and moon-inspired sips carry the theme into cocktail hour, followed by dinner, dancing and cake – a three-tier masterpiece by S. Richardson Cakes, adorned with smatterings of gold to mimic a starry night sky.

Petal & Oak’s expertise in both floral design and rentals provided the perfect foundation to bring Something Fabulous’ vision for this romantic, moody soiree to life. This comprehensive approach to decor allows Petal & Oak to offer “a tailored experience where each detail is considered, ensuring that the floral elements align perfectly with the overall aesthetic of the event,” Melissa says. “It’s about building a relationship with clients to understand their needs and bringing their ideas to life through creativity and expertise.”
