A Biltmore Proposal and a Mountaintop Wedding Ceremony

Zach and Brandi’s fathers were co-workers, and Zach’s dad would often joke that their children would get married someday. That prediction became a possibility when Brandi and Zach started dating after they graduated from Appalachian State University. A few years later, Zach gifted Brandi tickets to Biltmore Estate. He suggested they stroll through the tulip garden, where Brandi’s favorite flower was in bloom. It was there that he proposed. The couple married in a mountaintop wedding ceremony on May 6, 2023. They tied the knot at Summit on Cross Mountain in Jefferson, North Carolina, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.

A Seamless Wedding Day Thanks to Bess + Beau

Brandi says that Terry Smedley and Kerri Green-Scott of Bess + Beau Wedding and Event Design made the wedding planning process feel seamless.

“There are not words to describe how amazing Bess + Beau is,” Brandi says. “Terry had every single detail covered and Kerri was unbelievably attentive to Zach and I on the day of and made us feel so special. The wedding went off perfectly. If there was a single hiccup, I was completely unaware of it … they are that good!”

After securing the venue, choosing decor was simple. Terry guided the couple to select subtle shades of sage, gold, cream and white that would allow Cross Mountain’s breathtaking view and natural beauty to shine.

“I wanted a timeless [feel],” Brandi says. “When we look back at photos 20 years from now, I wanted a theme that would [remain elegant].” Terry also helped the couple match with the additional vendors they needed.

“I received tons of help from our wedding planner,” Brandi says. “She was pivotal in those decisions by showing us lots of options so that we could narrow it down to the ones that would fit our vision and budget.”

Brandi offers some advice for engaged couples. “Enjoy the process on your wedding day and take a minute to just stop and take a mental snapshot for everything going on around you. My maid of honor passed that advice on to me. The day goes by quickly, so being intentional about taking that time is something you won’t regret.”
