Winston-Salem Wedding at WinMock at Kinderton Photographed by Danielle Flake
Emmie and Isaiah wanted to tie the knot at a wedding venue that had meaning to them personally and felt like home. Naturally, they chose to stay local and hold their Winston-Salem wedding at WinMock at Kinderton. A subdued, fall-inspired color palette including shades of cream, rosy neutrals and beige with pops of navy tied together their outdoor ceremony and indoor barn reception.

During their childhood, Isaiah became close friends with Emmie’s twin brother. Therefore, the pair were already part of each other’s lives long before a romantic relationship sparked during their senior year at Davie County High School. After five years of dating, while Emma attended High Point University and Isaiah went to Davidson County Community College, he planned a proposal at Emmie’s family lakefront property. She wasn’t surprised, but still elated.

Elegant Outdoor Winston-Salem Ceremony
When it came to choosing a wedding venue, the couple found their perfect fit for their Winston-Salem wedding in WinMock at Kinderton. After one look through the grand white-and-red refurbished barn and spacious outdoor areas, they knew it was the right place for them to tie the knot.
“It only made sense for us high school sweethearts to get married somewhere that felt like home. Living in Davie County, I had probably driven by WinMock a thousand times but had never been to an event there,” Emmie says. “My dad suggested we tour it, and we absolutely fell in love.”
WinMock staff made sure that the couple’s rehearsal dinner took place smoothly despite power being knocked out by a tropical storm. “The power was still out all day long on our wedding day,” Emmie says. “Apparently the power came back on right as the ceremony started! Our event coordinators described it as a little miracle moment. WinMock worked tirelessly to make it feel as if we weren’t lacking power.” They made the big day as worry-free as possible on Oct. 3, 2020. “I truly felt like I didn’t have to lift a finger on our wedding day,” Emmie says
Dusty Rose Details
Bridesmaids wore rosewood dresses from Revelry. The muted yet rosy shade complimented Emmie and Isaiah’s fall color palette, which included shades of rust and cream. “I wanted a mix of boho and Southern elegance,” Emmie says. The couple chose Maddie Cakes Bakery for their pumpkin-flavored wedding cake (rounding out the fall theme) along with white chocolate cupcakes. To make the event more personal, Emmie’s aunt played the piano for the ceremony. A small Bible from Emmie’s grandmother’s bridal bouquet was included in her own bouquet. The couple had a first touch at the barn entrance and Emmie had a first look with her father.

Danielle Flake Captured This Winston-Salem Wedding
Danielle Flake Photography captured this Winston-Salem wedding at WinMock at Kinderton beautifully. “Danielle is so talented,” Emmie says. “I was drawn to her by the [unique nature] of her film photography. Her photos are soft and subdued, yet the colors were vibrant. She was also such a calming presence on the wedding day, yet was able to quickly capture so many photos with my large wedding party!”
Danielle snapped photos of guests and close friends during the reception while they surrounded the couple in a bear hug on the dance floor. She snapped pictures of the joyful moment on a film camera. “That was definitely my favorite moment!” Emmie says. “To have that picture … is totally priceless,” she says.

After enduring the stress and uncertainty of planning a wedding during the pandemic, the day came together perfectly. “To me, our wedding was not only about us starting our life together, but for the ones that we love dearly who love us to be able to be there and experience the joy of our union.”
“The most important thing that matters on your wedding day is that you are surrounded by the people you love most watching you marry your best friend,” Emmie says. She and Isaiah now live in Advance, North Carolina. Isaiah is a project manager in construction. Emmie is a doctor of physical therapy student at Winston-Salem State University.
